Jerry Palmer is an accomplished acoustic musician and multi instrumentalist, currently living in the Northern Colorado area. With a long list of albums behind him and years worth of original materials in hand, Jerry's music bursts with enthusiasm as well as true artistic flare. Soul Gardener features many guest artists including Steve Amedee of the subdudes, Pamela Robinson, Paul Taylor, Russ Hopkins, Kay Williams and Wes Heilman.
While first attracted to painting and drawing for expression, Palmer tuned in to music as a teenager in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He learned guitar, keyboards and flute and started playing in a succession of bands.
When he was twenty-three Palmer recorded his debut album Night Song with six time Grammy winner Greg Nelson and three time Grammy winner Al Perkins. Then while visiting northern Colorado for a wedding he heard the instrumental music of guitarist Alex de Grassi in a local record shop. He knew instantly that he wanted to play just that kind of music. Palmer took the discovery of de Grassis music as a new life direction, moving soon after to Fort Collins.
Palmer recorded his first instrumental album Children Forever with Russ Hopkins of Kiva Records in 1987. Palmer and Hopkins teamed up again for Nevada Winds, which landed him a feature spot in some surprising places- on television as well as on supermarket music loops. It also found him on stage with steel string guitar legend Michael Hedges.
